♥ ONE SMALL SEED \ ISSUE 18 \ FAUX FABRIC(N)ATION

Releasing the edition ‘Original Fake’ that presented themes revolving around originally fake, original and fake.

In this project we worked in close collaboration with One Small Seed magazine to create the editorial for their Issue 18. We were given full control of artistic direction within the parameters of the concept “original fake”, the theme that extended the whole of the issue. unplant creatives were responsible for concept development and execution, as well as the whole of production on this shoot.

Extensive story boards and collages led to a fully resolved concept, which we entirely lead from beginning to end. Reference to specific historical pop and sub-culture icons famous for their original style, with a twist added by a play on androgyny , constructed a orignal concept now re-invented and faked.

♥ GEOBET FLIGHTS \ PRIVATE CHARTER

Geobet Flights, a private jet airlines charter offering exclusive flights wanted a story for their private distribution editorial.

Art direction, production and conceptualisation of the spread, as well as full styling and photographic production. Of course, our role did not extend as far as riding the aeroplane or Jaguar V12 for maneuvering, but being on the airfield and amongst the hangers was quite an experience.

The charters are looking to bring in a wider market of clientele, extending it to the young successful and wealthy adults. Our client is passionate about flying and the lifestyle thereof and apart from broadening perspectives, they want also to encourage enthusiasm to a segment lying outside of their normal mature adult clientele. The idea was to bring a story that overlapped day and night, travel, journey and a sophisticated woman who is involved in some mysterious, but important liaison. Is it business, is it pleasure, does it matter? The idea of a very young pilot also reinforces the idea that there can be trust in a younger professional.

♥ VINTAGE SPORTS CAR COLLECTORS \ OFFTRACK

Showcasing vintage sports cars on the road and in style!

We worked on location in Cape Town creating a lifestyle editorial with vintage cars. The Western Cape has many long and winding roads and the incentive was to create a story with shots that romaticised some non-placeable road trip while subtly featuring the car.

Using the story of several different young lovers on the road, we felt that between their tensions the vintage car would stand out as the feature embodying a calm and collected cool. The car shows off as a sophisticated and experienced form, yet also still embodies the youth and adventure of the glossy new sports car it once was when brand new. The margins of time have been crossed over and the two realms on either side of those era’s have been brought together and partnered. The lifestyle of the fashionable vintage sports car owner is established. The identity of experienced collectors, enthusiasts and new-comers is reinforced and they are persuaded and convinced by the lifestyle, rather than the product.

♥ WAY AND WARD \ SILENT IN MOSCOW

There is a vivid and translucent stillness that lies beneath the bright lights and bustle of Moscow’s city streets.

To capture the night streets of Moscow from the angle of a lost soul wandering through the bright lights.

A portrait of the city night life of Moscow where we intended to capture its streets from an obscured and different angle. An angle where a distanced and detached isolated view from all the rush is experienced by the viewer, through the eyes of the model, a personification of a city left behind and gone unnoticed between all the rush. Capturing the city streets in this dim, dull and translucent light exposes the raw and vivid beauty of Moscow city and the exquisite vulnerability and stillness still present in and amongst all of its business.

Don’t we love milk!

We worked together with with Fotobank leading the art direction and production for this milk campaign. Driving the concept and execution we produced these results.

To capture milk as an object and catch it in movement. To display it’s thick and creamy liquid consistency, smoothness and execute a highly detailed and unique moment. To put milk in a new light that has not been seen before. To create a new idea and capture a new angle towards milk.

♥ NEOVINATGE \ MY LADY GREENSLEEVES

The Summer saw us out and about in an array of neo vintage sci-fi chic.

We worked in collaboration with photographer Claudia Casentini to produce the editorial Neovintage on location Parternoster, West Coast, South Africa. Together with Greensleeves, one of Cape Town’s most trend-defining and exclusive vintage stores, we showcased this unique and gorgeous collection.

We chose to focus on a mood, rather than opting to produce a more conservative glamorous result. unplant creatives conceptualised a futuristic expression with nostalgic overtones, reminiscent of a sci-fi from the seventies or an early memory of Star-Trek and space pirates, we went ahead fully fledged into the bright and strong sunlight. Meticulous planning and high attention to detail with briefing and direction the models coupled with speedy changes meant that a high energy and momentum was contained throughout the whole shoot.
